No commentsLots of lemonade: the new year’s eve recap
Doing yearly recaps have been a habit of mine since I was in college and writing on a now almost-defunct Livejournal blog (which no one shall ever read except for a handful of close friends from high school and college because it’s embarrassingly filled with teenage angst. There’s enough of that here.). While I thought 2007 was crazy busy - what with my college graduation, move across the country and start of my first Big Girl Job - 2008 definitely racked it up a couple notches in the “too busy for words” sector.
January brought the start of my first 101 Things in 1,001 Days - my mission to accomplish 101 of my goals by September 28, 2010 (which is just shy of a year and a half from now - yikes!). I tried to make go…
The hopes and joys of 2009….let’s make it a great one!!!
I wanted to wish everyone a Healthy, Happy, and Prosperous 2009. I know 08 was a tough one, but the future is ours to make what we will of it. I believe that there is a lot of opportunity out there right now and in the upcoming year if we only choose to find it. No commentsThe year in review part deux: 2008.
2008 came crashing in with too much to drink and a crew of elephants in my skull the next day, but the year quickly shaped up to be one of the best I’ve ever had. From diabetes advocacy to adventures exploring to the most romantic and wonderful day of my life, 2008 was one to remember. I had the opportunity to test out the MiniLink Medtronic CGM in January, sporting the sensor on my arm, grappling with the emotions of it, and learning what’s best. The trial was one of the best learning experiences I’ve had, as a diabetic. I’m grateful for the opportunity. The silliness didn’t stop, either. Shoes didn’t change her ways, and I had weird fits during which I pictured shoving Siah into a banana. Then someone a…

What are your goals for the New Year?
If you’re like me, you HATE when people ask about that! LOL. I hate goal making, but I do like to continually improve on things. Rather than create some large hurdle to climb, I try to look at it a different (and more manageable) way.
For example, rather than saying I want to “lose ten pounds” I say I want to work out five times a week for 30 minutes. In doing that, I probably am going to lose ten pounds because working out will inspire me to do other things, like eat healthier.
Diabetics are especially hard on themselves when it comes to resol…

US researchers studying the effect of beta carotene, vitamin C and vitamin E, either singly or in combination, on over 7,000 women found the supplements did not reduce their risk of getting cancer compared to women who did not take the supplements. However an expert who reviewed the study said that while the overall message was there was no link, it uncovered some interesting evidence that should not be overlooked.Original post by Allergy News From Medical News Today

EPA has notified 25 governors and 23 tribal leaders that certain areas in their states and tribal lands do not meet the agency’s daily standards for fine particle pollution, also known as PM 2.5. “These designations are an important step in our steady march toward cleaner air,” said EPA Administrator Stephen L.
